Health & Safety Steps We're Taking

Members

  • Members are required to wear a face covering (over their nose and mouth) at all times, including while exercising.
  • The Fitness Center has transformed its layout to ensure that all workout stations/equipment are a minimum of 6’ in distance from each other.
    • We have also implemented face shields in front of all cardio equipment to minimize direct forward exposure to particles caused by those utilizing the machines.
  • ​Members will be presented with a sanitizer spray bottle and a clean towel upon entering the Fitness Center to sanitize equipment (e.g., weights, treadmills, etc.) before and after use. This is required by all members.
     
  • Sweat towels will NOT be provided by HPD. Members may bring their own from home. Fitness Center staff will NOT launder personal towels.
     
  • Water fountains will NOT be available for use; however, our touchless bottle filler will be. We encourage all members to bring their own re-fillable water bottle for their workouts. We will NOT provide water bottles.
     
  • A sanitation station will be available upon entering the building and hand sanitizer will be available upon entering and exiting the fitness center.

  • Main walkways through the fitness center will be one-way and will be depicted with arrows to keep a simplified flow of traffic and less/minimized paths to cross with other members.
     
  • Members should arrive at our facility dressed in workout attire. See Locker Room information below.
     
  • Members should maintain 6-ft. of distance during exercise.
     
  • Equipment should not be shared between members at the same time unless from the same household.

Staff

  • Fitness staff will wear face coverings and gloves at all times.
     
  • Fitness staff will maintain a minimum of 6' of distance between themselves and members  and/or other HPD staff.
     
  • Fitness staff will sanitize and refill each sanitation spray bottle used by each member.
     
  • Fitness staff will deep clean various sections of equipment/touch points in the fitness center on an hourly basis.
     
  • Fitness staff will launder all sanitation and sweat towels regularly.
     
  • Fitness staff will monitor Fitness Center floor and encourage safe practices.
     
  • Fitness staff will clean and sanitize all equipment after use by members in Group Exercise classes, regularly. 

Locker Rooms/Kids' Club

Locker Rooms

  • Locker rooms and showers will be closed until further notice. If you are currently renting a locker with us and wish to retrieve your personal belongings, please email Matt Szytz at mszytz@huntleyparks.org to schedule a time for us to help you empty your locker.

​Kids' Club

  • Kids’ Club will remain closed until further notice. We are currently assessing the need and hours for the service and are re-evaluating for the month of July.
  • If you have questions and/or concerns regarding Kids’ Club, please email Matt Szytz at mszytz@huntleyparks.org.

Group Exercise

UPDATE

As of Friday, November 20, Group Exercise class will be paused in accordance to Tier 3 Mitigations.

  • Class sizes are limited to 15 participants plus 1 instructor.
  • We have implemented the use of SignUpGenius as our reservation system for members to sign up and reserve their spot in classes. Under the new guidelines, our indoor classes will be limited to 15 participants and 1 instructor. New members will be emailed a link the group exercise SignUpGenius portal, in which members will be asked to create a free account in order to start reserving spots. Once created, you will be able to use SignUpGenius to reserve a spot in any class you choose.
  • The group exercise schedule through December 30 has been released. View that schedule here. The Huntley Park District reserves the right to alter and change the group exercise schedule at any time, which may include adding, dropping, or changing class formats.
  • We will NOT be allowing daily passes/drop-ins to Group Exercise classes. All Huntley Park District group exercise classes are strictly members only until further notice. Reserving a spot via SignUpGenius is REQUIRED by all participants taking classes.
  • Water will only be available in our facility via our hands-free bottle filler, which will require members to bring their own bottle. The Huntley Park District will not provide bottles.
  • All classes will take place in the Dance Studio.
  • Visible markings are placed on the floor of the Dance Studio, spaced out at least 8' apart from one another. Members and instructors are expected to stay within proximity of their designated spot.
  • Members are required to bring their own yoga mat/floor mat/blanket/towel/etc. if they wish to use one for exercises that take place on the ground. The Huntley Park District will not provide mats to be used during group exercise classes. All other equipment will be sanitized and available for you to use if you do not have your own, with the exception of bolsters/blankets for yoga classes.

SAFETY RESTRICTIONS

  • 6' must be maintained between all participants and instructor. 8'+ markings have been created to designate spots for participants and the instructor within the Dance Studio.
  • Face masks are NOT required to be worn by participants or instructors throughout the duration of class, but MUST be worn before and after.
  • Equipment will NOT be shared.
  • All equipment used will have been sanitized prior to and after its use.
  • Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes will be readily available for use.
  • Traffic will be controlled in and out of the Dance Studio using one-way entrance and exit doors.
  • Door will remain open during classes in order to promote increased airflow throughout the Dance Studio.

Open Gym ( Members Only )

UPDATE

As of Friday, November 20, Open Gym will NOT be available in accordance to Tier 3 Mitigations.

The listed times are designated open gym times for members. Outside of this schedule, members may use the gymnasium as long as a scheduled program is not already taking place. Times subject to change.

SAFETY

  • Only active fitness members will be allowed to participate in open gym basketball.
  • Fitness Members must scan in at the Fitness Center prior to going down to the Gymnasium.
  • Members must bring their own basketball, as the Huntley Park District will not have basketballs to rent.
  • Members should bring their own water bottles as the water fountains are currently unavailable. Touchless water bottle filling stations are available to refill your water bottles.
  • 6 people per court, maximum. 24 people total in the gym, maximum.
  • Face coverings are to be worn in the building (in and out of Fitness Center and Gymnasium). Members may remove their face covering while working out in the Fitness Center and while actively participating in basketball within the gymnasium.
  • Only the North and South courts will be made available. The main court baskets will not be available.
