Huntley Park District is excited to get construction underway at Weiss Park in the coming weeks. Once construction begins the park will be closed during construction. Certain aspects of the park will be reopened as certain amenities are completed. We ask residents, especially those parents of children, to inform your kids that the park is off limits during the construction. Below is a tentative timeline for the park construction:
- Week of March 17 – Removal of south field backstop, playground wood fibers, and sand
- Week of March 24 – Removal of playground (to be donated to Kids Around the World), removal of existing amenities including skate park equipment, basketball court equipment, removal of asphalt and concrete
- Week of March 31 – Playground equipment delivery
- Week of April 7 – Concrete paving begins, pathways and playground curbing
- Week of April 14 – Asphalt paving begins (Trail, skate park, basketball court)
- Week of April 21 – Asphalt paving continues, playground installation begins
- Week of April 28 – shelter repairs, playground equipment installation, shade sail installation, backstop and dugout fencing installation begins, wood fiber for playground installed.
- Week of May 5 – backstop and dugout fencing installation continues, basketball goal installation.
- Week of May 12 – Infield clay touch up on south ballfield, landscaping installed, solar lighting installed.
- Week of June 6 – color coating and striping of basketball court
- Week of June 16 – Skate Park equipment installed.
