Virtual Recreation For Future Generations!
ESCAPE ROOM CAMPS (DISCONTINUED DUE TO LOW ENROLLMENT)
Brain Chase began in 2014 as a home summer learning program for K-12 students, but has since expanded into schools, recreation agencies, summer camp kits, and much more. At its core, Brain Chase is gamification company, who finds world-class challenges in subjects ranging from art to zoology and wrap them up in massive global escape rooms, treasure hunts, whodunnits, and other puzzles.
Whether your child is trying to get ahead during the summer, catch up with math, or entertain a hostile crowd of geniuses, Brain Chase is probably for you. Each child will receive a login and password to their Brain Chase Dashboard where their activities can be found each day.
Huntley Park District Virtual Camp Guides have been trained by the Brain Chase staff and have carefully selected a variety of weekly Escape Room Challenges and Electives activities to offer.
What is each day like? Each day children will start their day in their group of roughly ten Virtual Campers and meet with their Virtual Camp Guide on a Zoom Meeting. The initial meeting of the day will introduce campers to the material for the day, provide fun interaction with their team and they will complete their first online Escape Room together. After that, participants will be given projects based on their three weekly electives that will keep them busy OFFLINE, sometimes for hours. At the end of the day the group will meet again online (Zoom Meeting) and they will share how their projects turned out and receive feedback from staff. Each day of the week there will be different projects and different escape rooms fitting that week’s theme. Each day will begin at approximately 9:00a and end around 3:00p. Start and end times may vary based on the number of groups we have. The beginning and end of the day are live interactions with staff and their group, while the middle of the day is more flexible and up to the child to complete the projects at their own pace. Some days it may take them less than an hour to complete their projects, some days may take longer. Virtual Camp Guides are available during the day to help campers at any time.
This activity is appropriate for those entering 2nd through 8th Grades and upon registration, our Virtual Camp Guides will form groups based on age/grades that most appropriately fit the number of participants registered.
Supplies: Each week there may be additional supplies that you must provide. Most of these things can be found around the average home, but there may be a few things to purchase which can be done at your average grocery store.
Parental Supervision: Most activities do not require parental supervision but some activities such as science-related themes and cooking, for example, may require parent supervision. Be sure to look at the required supplies for each week down below before registering.
How does it work? Each week we will email the login credentials and some instructions to the parent. This will give your child access to the Brain Chase Dashboard where all their weekly activities are listed and tracked. Our staff will assist them through this dashboard and the activities and will be available for the duration of the camp each day.
