EXTENDED TIME PROGRAM

Program begins tentatively Monday, March 15.

Kindergarten - 5th Grade

Huntley Park District offers the Extended Time Before and After School program at School District 158 school locations. Extended Time (ET) is a quality supervised recreation program offered at the elementary schools to children who are enrolled in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Activities include homework time, gym games, outdoor play, sports, arts and crafts, and more.  An afternoon snack and drink are provided daily.  This program is not licensed or regulated by DCFS, and is a qualified license-exempt program.  Extended Time is available for the days specifically listed and changing days of the week regularly is not an option.  Spaces may be limited.  Children must be assigned into static groups based on current health and safety guidelines so initial registration will end at 11:59p on Wednesday, March 10 to allow for this to happen appropriately.  Once groups are settled and the program begins, opportunities for additional openings will be evaluated and those on the wait list will be accommodated in the order they are received.

Registration for the general public is tentatively scheduled to open by Noon on Monday, March 8 and will close at 11:59p on Wednesday, March 10.  Should it be decided that the start date is pushed back to a later date, the registration dates will be adjusted and announced.

For Spring 2021, the Extended Time Program will take place at three locations, Leggee, Reed Rd. campus and Square Barn Rd. campus.  Children from Chesak and Conley will be walked next door to Martin and Mackeben respectively.  As we bring this program back online there are several space requirements and limitations we face.  This change will also allow parents with children in multiple schools to drop off and pick-up at the same location.

The program does not meet on regular school holidays.  Please see our school days out information for child care options on days when children are not in school.  In addition, if school is cancelled for snow, the Extended Time Program is also cancelled and the day will be included as a make-up at the end of the school year.  Should there be a late start called for any school, morning ET will be cancelled.

Extended Time is available for the days specifically listed and changing days of the week is not allowed.

Due to a variety of factors centered around COVID-19 transportation restrictions and demand for the program, Middle School Extended Time is no longer being offered.

2020 Health and Safety Rules Guidelines

Our top priority is the safety of our participants and our staff.  Huntley Park District has made changes to our program to address the current pandemic and deliver a safe before and after school program.  Below is the current guidance and, as a reminder, guidance can change at any time based on medical data that is being observed by the State of Illinois on an ongoing basis:

  1. Children will be placed in groups (cohorts) of 20 and children will remain with these cohorts during the program and not mix with other children in the program.
  2. Parents should review the Health Screening Questions and by arriving at our program you are affirming that these conditions do not exist to the best of your knowledge.
    1. If a child does have symptoms of COVID-19 they should not enter the premises until they have had no fever for at least 72 hours (without medication), other symptoms have improved, and at least 10 days have passed since their symptoms first appeared.
    2. School District 158 health and safety guidelines must also be enforced and affirmation of our guidelines does not absolve parents from fulfilling any requirements of School District 158 for health screening or determinations made by the school district as it relates to health and safety and a child's eligibility to attend the schools.
  3. Employees also follow the health screening guidelines and if they meet any of the criteria they will be held out of work as outlined in the health requirements.
  4. If a participant or employee does contract COVID-19:
    1. They should remain isolated at home for a minimum of 10 days after symptom onset and can be released after feverless and feeling well (without fever-reducing medication) for at least 72 hours OR has 2 negative COVID-19 tests in a row, with testing done at least 24 hours apart.
    2. If a positive case is identified in our program, the situation will be reviewed by Park District Staff and the McHenry County Health Department and could result in certain individuals and/or staff in that group (cohort) being quarantined for up to 14 days and not able to participate if they are determined to be “close contacts.”  A close contact, as defined by the CDC, is anyone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a total of 15 minutes or more. An infected person can spread COVID-19 starting from 48 hours (or 2 days) before the person has any symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19.
  5. Should children exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 during the program, they will be isolated from other children and monitored by staff until parents pick them up.  Parents should understand that under these guidelines it is more likely than ever that a participant may be sent home and should have a plan to pick them up if such symptoms are observed.  If observed, please refer to item 3a.
  6. Check-in and check-out are done through ePact system and you can expect it to be “touchless.”  More details about drop off and pick-up procedures will be posted prior to Extended Time Program beginning.  Additional details of this procedure are still being developed.
  7. If your child will be absent from the program, you must contact the Site Supervisor phone number (listed below) prior to the start of the program.  We need to know the location your child attends, the first and last name of the parent, the first and last name of the child, and the reason for your absence.
  8. All participants and staff must wear a cloth face covering when they enter and exit the building, and follow the D158 Requirements for mask use.
  9. We know it will be difficult for children to follow many of these new rules.  Our staff are here to help them learn and be successful.  However, under our current circumstances, repeated failure to comply with health and safety rules may require disciplinary action up to and including removal from the program as outlined in our Code of Conduct.  Any situation that will routinely involve interaction with a participant within 6 ft. creates (whether intentional or unintentional) a direct threat to the safety of the child and staff.  Those situations will be evaluated and if they cannot be consistently maintained participation in our program will be evaluated.
  10. Specific equipment will be assigned to each group and staff will disinfect items such as balls, writing implements, etc. after each use.
  11. Hand washing with soap and water will be done most often and hand sanitizer will be readily available where soap and water are not available.
  12. Disinfectant wipes will also be readily available to ensure high touch surfaces and equipment are safe for use.
