3-21-20 UPDATE ON HUNTLEY PARK DISTRICT AND PLAYGROUND CLOSURE

Closed

PARK DISTRICT AND PLAYGROUNDS
CLOSED UNTIL APRIL 8

Based on the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19 and the recent order by Illinois Governor Pritzker, Huntley Park District is updating its closure dates and cancelled all programs and closed our facilities until Wednesday, April 8 or until the order is lifted. The Park District closure follows the Illinois Governor’s Executive Order on March 20 to help minimize exposure to participants and staff and to help slow the spread of the virus.

Closure:  All activities, rentals, and events are cancelled until Wednesday, April 8 or until the order is lifted.  Over the next week we will begin evaluating all the various programs impacted by this and adjusting accordingly and posting formal cancellation notifications of certain activities and events.

Use of Outdoor Spaces: With the latest order from Governor Pritzker, Huntley Park District “playgrounds” will be closed as of 5:00p on Saturday, March 21 until April 8. Other open spaces and trails owned by the park district are still available.  With that in mind, we ask that while visiting Huntley Park District parks and open spaces, residents and guests please observe Centers for Disease Control COVID-19 guidelines, which include staying at least 6-feet away from others and refraining from gathering in groups of 10 or more. This also means avoiding playdates, picnics, pick-up games, and team practices. Finally, and most importantly, if you are not feeling well, please stay home until you have fully recovered.  Any public bathrooms maintained by the Park District are also closed.

Communications:  Essential staff will be working remotely during this time and our Office is closed. If you need to reach us during this time please call and leave a message at (847) 669-3180 x. 1 or email us at info@huntleyparks.org.  Staff will periodically check these message centers and reply a few times a week.

Program Cancellations/Refunds: Extended Time (ET) Program and Seedlings Preschool participants were not assessed their April billing (which was scheduled to be charged on March 16).  When activities resume, we will assess further adjustments in billing.  Fitness and Kids’ Club memberships will not be charged on April 1.  Whenever we resume activities, future billing for fitness will be adjusted depending upon the length of time we are closed.  All other activities will be evaluated, and further communication will be sent as necessary.

Summer Day Camp Registration:  has been postponed and an update on the registration date is not yet determined.  We will be sure that you have at least one week’s notice when a decision on the registration date is made.

The Park District will continue to provide updates as information becomes available at www.huntleyparks.org.   Please continue helping your friends, families, and neighbors through this difficult time.  We hope you all stay safe and continue to find creative ways to play and recreate at home.
