LEAGUES

Recreational basketball leagues are designed for players to have fun, improve their skills and develop an enjoyment for the game. We offer leagues for boys and girls in all grades!

1st & 2nd Grade Instructional League

This coed league is designed to serve as an introduction to the basic skills required to play basketball.  

  • Players will be divided at random into teams of no more than 10 players.
  • Equipment for this league will include a 27.5" (Junior) basketball and an 8" rim height.
  • Games will simulate controlled scrimmages with coaches allowed on the floor with the referee to help teach players about game situations and rules of play.
  • No scores or league standings are kept for this group.

3rd & 4th Grade Recreational League

Boys and girls will be separated into their own leagues starting at this age.

  • All players will be asked to attend one of two player evaluation events to assist the coaches in attempting to draft the fairest teams possible for the league. Dates and times for the evaluations are listed to the right. Players should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of their evaluation session to check in.
  • Players who do not attend an evaluation session, or do not register until after the evaluations have been conducted will not be eligible to be drafted by coaches and will be randomly assigned to a team after the draft process is completed.
  • All games for both boys and girls will be played at a 9’ high rim.
  • The 28.5” (Women's) basketball will be used for both leagues.

5th & 6th Grade Recreational League

Separate leagues will be offered for boys and girls.

  • All players will be asked to attend one of two player evaluation events to assist the coaches in attempting to draft the fairest teams possible for the league. Dates and times for the evaluations are listed to the right. Players should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of their evaluation session to check in.
  • Players who do not attend an evaluation session, or do not register until after the evaluations have been conducted will not be eligible to be drafted by coaches and will be randomly assigned to a team after the draft process is completed. 
  • These leagues will use the standard 10’ rim height.
  • The 28.5” (Women's) basketball will be used for both leagues.

7th & 8th Grade Recreational League

This league will begin following the completion of the middle school boys' season.

  • Each team will play 10 total games and teams will consist of not have more than 10 players.
  • Teams will practice once a week beginning over the holiday break, with games beginning on January 13 and continuing through March 17.
  • All players will be asked to attend one of two player evaluation events to assist the coaches in attempting to draft the fairest teams possible for the league. Dates and times for the evaluations are listed to the right. Players should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of their evaluation session to check in.
  • Players who do not attend an evaluation session, or do not register until after the evaluations have been conducted will not be eligible to be drafted by coaches and will be randomly assigned to a team after the draft process is completed.

Feeder Basketball

This program is open only to District 158 students.

  • At the 5th-8th grade levels we will select a pool of up to 24 players to compete on "A" and "B" teams  .
  • Players must be able to attend at least one of the tryout dates to be considered for selection, with attendance at all tryout dates strongly encouraged.
  • The season will consist of approximately 15  games and 4 tournaments. Additional tournaments may be scheduled for an additional cost at the discretion of each individual team.
  • There is no cost to tryout, but pre-registration before participating in a tryout is required.
  • The fee for those players selected to a team will be a participation fee of $400, plus a uniform fee between $150-$250 for two full uniform sets (home & away jerseys and shorts).
  • All NEW players will be required to purchase a new uniform for this season.
  • Additional optional uniform pieces such as a practice jersey, warm up, and other items will be available to be ordered at the start of the season at an additional cost.  
  • It is advised that all players trying out for the feeder team also sign up for their appropriate in-house team.  By doing this you will be guaranteed a place to play for the 2019-2020 season.  
  • Those that make the feeder team can have their full amount paid to in-house applied to their feeder team fees.
  • There is no fee to attend tryouts, but registered beforehand is needed.

High School League

In this “intramural” style basketball league, each team will play 10 regular season games, starting in December, followed by a post-season tournament.

  • Each team determines their own roster and players on their schools IHSA roster at any level are NOT eligible to play.
  • Team captains should register their team by the deadline listed below.
  • A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your team’s spot in the league, with the balance due before playing your first game.
  • Teams are responsible for providing their own numbers shirts/jerseys.
  • Practice times are not provided for teams in this league as part of the team fee.
  • Most games during the regular season will be played on Sunday afternoons or evenings, however Friday or Saturday evening games may be played if necessary based on the number of teams entered.
    • Also note that the post season tournament may also have games on Fridays and Saturdays in order to complete the tournament before spring break.

CLINICS

Our pre-season clinic is designed to equip players, of all levels, with the basketball skills and knowledge needed to train on their own. This clinic will force players to make mistakes and understand their weaknesses. Players should come to enjoy the process of learning new and exciting material and to challenge themselves.
