Huntley Park District hires new Recreation Director

In September, new Recreation Director, and local Huntley resident, Scott Crowe, joined the Huntley Park District team.  Scott has been a resident of Huntley for 7 years with his wife and two children.  Scott joins the Huntley Park District from the Gurnee Park District where he served for 13 years, the past 5 in the same role.  He has been in the field of Parks and Recreation for 19 years and has served on various state and local committees and service organizations.  He is a graduate of Western Illinois University in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Administration and has received various awards from the Illinois Park and Recreation Association and from his alma mater at WIU. 

Scott is the department head overseeing all recreation activities at the district including Sports, Extended Time Care, Preschool, Fitness, Aquatics, Performing Arts, Special Events and a variety of other contractual and in-house programs.  He will also oversee the marketing operations of the district.  When asked about the hiring of his new department head, Executive Director, Thom Palmer said, “We are pleased to bring in someone like Scott who is not only knowledgeable in the field, but is also a resident with very close ties to the community.”  As a resident, Scott has volunteered at the Huntley Park District and other local sports organizations as a volunteer coach.  He has served on various not for profit organizations and is also in a very distinguished group of professionals to achieve the designation of Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE).  Huntley Park District welcomes Scott and his family to the Huntley Park District family.
